The timing between Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs) can be confusing. Medicare covers AWVs at 12-month intervals, which means 11 full calendar months must pass after the month of the last AWV.
For example, if the AWV was on January 31, 2016, the patient is eligible for the next one starting January 1, 2017.
The day of the month doesn't matter. Whether the AWV was on January 1 or January 31, the patient is eligible again from January 1 of the next year.
